Projects, Bachelor- & Master thesis

Thank you for your interest in a student project at IFS. We are always looking for committed students with an interest in rail vehicles. On this page you will find information on how to apply for a student project or thesis with us. For organisational questions regarding registration, the student advisory service can assist you.

All applications must include a short cover letter. Please understand that applications that do not comply with the following requirements outlined on this page may not be processed.

Under this link you will find a list of topics currently available. Many of the postings can be adjusted in scope to match the desired examination format (Bachelor’s thesis, Master’s thesis, or project work). Please send applications for these topics directly to the contact person named in the posting.

Unsolicited applications & External thesis

If you would like to submit an unsolicited application, please send it to Abschlussarbeit@ifs.rwth-aachen.de. Ideally, your application already includes a working title and a schedule.

Under special circumstances, it may be possible to conduct your thesis at an external company while being supervised by IFS. In this case, please send an unsolicited application to the email address above. Applications for external theses must, in addition to the cover letter, include the contact details of the supervisor at the external company.

Internship presentations

If you would like to give your internship presentation, please also send a request to Abschlussarbeit@ifs.rwth-aachen.de. Requests regarding internship supervision should, in addition to a cover letter, include the planned period, the company, and the contact person there. In addition, a description of your activities during the internship must be provided. Unfortunately, we cannot process requests with incomplete documentation. Please understand that we can only assess internships related to our field/industry.
