Research topics

There is a large number of possible research tasks related to rail transport, conveyor technology and associated disciplines. Since considering all of them is not feasible, we have narrowed down our research fields to the following main topics:

  • Lightweight construction and energy efficiency
  • Wheel-rail interface
  • Vehicle dynamics and vibration comfort
  • Component and system development
  • Assisted, automated and autonomous driving

Even though all the topics are mainly applied to the rail vehicle, they are equally relevant for conveyor vehicles and other rail-guided vehicles.
