Over the next three years, a consortium consisting of Siemens Mobility GmbH and the Institute for Rail Vehicles and Transport Systems at RWTH Aachen University will be developing a track position monitoring solution that enables cost-effective and minimally invasive monitoring of the condition of the track infrastructure using smartphone sensor technology. Both the installed sensors and camera data will be used. Renowned associated partners such as Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main GmbH, Rurtalbahn GmbH and the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) are supporting the project.
