On Tuesday after Whit Monday, the IFS'ers set out for the excursion to Berlin. The group numbered 24 people, who traveled together by train.

Wednesday was dominated by two company visits. First, we were welcomed in the morning at Alstom in Hennigsdorf by the plant manager. After a presentation in the seminar room, we were able to enter the halls, equipped with personal safety equipment, and visit the production facilities. The production of electric traction motors was particularly interesting. A lively exchange of ideas between guests and visitors followed over a midday snack.

The next highlight was the reception at the Stadler Deutschland plant, located in the Pankow district. Here we saw the assembly of the equipment into the car bodies. In particular, the vehicles for the Berlin S-Bahn and U-Bahn, which could be viewed in the states from completion to delivery in the factory.

On Thursday morning, a visit to the German Museum of Technology in Berlin was on the agenda. The museum has interesting exhibits from the development history of rail transport. The afternoon was used by the participants for self-organized visits. This is not difficult in Berlin, since there are interesting things to discover everywhere.

On Friday morning, we were guests at the ICE maintenance facility of Deutsche Bahn in Berlin Rummelsburg. Here we were shown the steps involved in the maintenance, servicing and provision of the vehicles in modern halls. Especially here, insights into the daily work of the employees were possible, which helped to better understand the management of the demanding activities. A special highlight was, of course, the explanations on the ICE driver's cab.

During the talks, it became clear that all companies are desperately looking for young talent in all engineering disciplines. We, too, would have preferred to be hired right away.
We would like to sincerely thank all those who made these tours possible and look forward to seeing them again at any time.
