We are pleased about the friendly provision of a ROTRAC E2 for research purposes by the company Zwiehoff. The ROTRAC E2 for trailer loads up to 250 t is a compact, battery-electric two-way vehicle with four cylindrical, rubber-tired drive wheels and two hydraulically lowerable idler wheel sets with wheel flanges, which serve for track guidance.
As part of the BMBF-funded project "AuRa" (2018-2021), we developed a demonstrator for automated shunting based on a two-way vehicle together with the project partners DB Systel and G. Zwiehoff GmbH. After the funding project has come to an end, we are now continuing to work on topics related to driverless shunting, with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of rail freight transport.
