New event in the field conveyor technology

From the summer semester 2017 onwards, the new event “Principles of Conveyor Technology” will be offered by the Chair and Institute of Rail Vehicles and Transport Systems.

The students will be provided with a compact and diverting introduction in the important and varied field conveyor technology, which is related to many sectors of the German mechanical and plant engineering. The event is addressed to interested students of a bachelor’s degree program who consider deepening their knowledge of conveyor technology in the master’s degree program “Automotive Engineering and Transport”. The event also offers an interesting insight into a practical application for students that want to study the master’s degree program “Development and Design Engineering”. The basic knowledge of conveyor technology is a fundamental basis for the master modules Discontinuous Conveyors, Continuous Conveyors and/or Material Flow Technology. These modules can also be chosen as elective courses in all the master’s degree programs.

The module “Principles of Conveyor Technology” is offered with 1/1 contact hours and 3 credit points and hence represents an interesting possibility for the bachelor’s degree program, since only few credit points are normally required from elective courses, but only modules with 5 to 7 credit points are mostly offered. Furthermore, the students can count on some extra time at the end of the semester for the preparation of the exams, since the lectures and exercises are going to be offered during seven weeks at the beginning of the semester as 2/2 contact hours. The module “Principles of Conveyor Technology” replaces the module “Conveyor Technology”, which is offered in the winter semester.

You can find the contents of the lecture, which are directed to the deepening modules Discontinuous Conveyors, Continuous Conveyors and Material Flow Technology, in the module handbook.
