Visit from a delegation of railway professors from Iran

On September 19, the IFS hosted a delegation of professors of the railway field and the vice-chancellor for international affairs of the University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran. They were accompanied by representatives of Siemens AG. Also present were members of institutions of the RWTH, such as the Institute for Power Electronics and Electrical Drives (ISEA) and the Institute of Transport Science as well as the International Academy.

The reason was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the International Academy of the RWTH Aachen, represented by the general manager Dr. Dinger, and the University of Tehran, with the goal of collaborating in the field of academic and further education with the participation of the institutes mentioned above.

Professor Schindler explained the current teaching and research topics of the IFS in a presentation. Mr. Engel (ISEA) and Dr. Jacobs (VIA) presented the activities of their institutes. The plans for the Research Center Railways (RCR) and the interdisciplinary, international master program Railway Systems Engineering (RSE), which starts in the winter semester 2017/18, were presented as well.
