IFS represented for the second time at a workshop of the German-Thai-Railway-Partnership

For the 4th time a workshop of the German-Thai Rail Transport Partnership (GTRP) took place in Bangkok. The event took place at the new depot of BTS, one of the local metro operators, in Samutpakran. About one hundred participants from industry, transport companies, universities and politics were welcomed by the German Ambassador to Thailand, Georg Schmidt.

While Prof. Schindler spoke about digitization and Mr. Kutscher from Siemens Mobility presented the new high-speed train Velaro Novo, Dr. Pichet Kunadhamraks from the Thai Department of Rail Transport (Dpmt. of Rail Transport) explained the numerous metro and railway projects planned in Thailand over the next few years.

Other presentations dealt with the topics of maintenance and repair as well as the training of young professionals. The RWTH and the IFS are closely involved in the country's railway activities, on the one hand through a joint declaration between the German Embassy and the Thai Ministry of Transport on cooperation in the field of railway technology, and on the other hand through the intention to establish a joint rail transport study course with two Thai universities. Due to the good contacts of the IFS to several Thai companies, industrial internships for students can also be arranged there.
