As part of the EU project SAFER-LC (for "Safer Level Crossing"), technical and non-technical methods are being investigated to make intersections between rail and road traffic safer. In this collaborative project, the IFS provides the trial environment with barrier systems and signals for road traffic to the project partners.
For the experiments, a realistic level crossing was built. Initial tests from 22-24.01 using video-based object recognition and wireless data connections were successful.
The project is part of the EU Framework Program Horizon 2020 with no. 723205.
