SBDist radio system in real test operation

In the course of the joint project “Reliable and low-latency broadband transmission over short distances” a new wireless technology is to be developed allowing a reliable and fast transmission of large data volumes between moving units over a distance of a few meters. Signal transmission is one of the applications of radio systems in the railway field, which usually occurs via mechanical contacts at the central buffer couplings.

The modules were mounted on special adapters and could be tested on the track of the IFS in real operation by equipping both test vehicles of the IFS for the measurement runs, which were mostly carried out by the project partners from the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

Different runs were performed in the coupling and shunting modes. The measurements regarding both the evaluation of the modules as well as transmission speed checks were successful.

An overview of the measurements can be found here.
