Workshop of German-Thai Railway Association (GTRA)

On January 13, the German-Thai Railway Association (GTRA) held a workshop for its members, as travel between the two countries is currently very difficult due to the Corona crisis. The GTRA was founded last year. Its aim is to mutually benefit the railroad activities of both countries.

Besides the cooperation of industrial companies of both countries, the focus is on academic education. The RWTH, represented by the IFS, is a founding member of the GTRA and was also very active under the predecessor initiative of the German-Thai Railway Partnership (GTRP).

Prof. Schindler regularly lectures at King Mongkut's University of Technology of North Bangkok (KMUTNB), where RWTH jointly maintains the Thai-German Graduate School (TGGS) with KMUTNB. In addition, KMUTNB together with Chulalongkorn University, also located in Bangkok, has established a degree program called Railway Vehicle and Infrastructure Enginieering (RVIE), which is supported by RWTH, especially by IFS. There are even plans for a so-called double degree.
