Cooperation in the rail sector confirmed with two universities from Bangkok

On July 29th and 30th, a high-ranking delegation from two Thai universities visited the RWTH to talk about the planned cooperation in university education in the field of railway technology. Thailand has a great need for infrastructure and vehicles in this field of technology and needs the corresponding know-how.

The King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), with which the RWTH maintains the TGGS (Thai-German Graduate School) on-site, and Chulalongkorn University, the oldest of its kind in Thailand, have recently passed a joint rail study program. This Masters program also includes the option of one to one year of study at RWTH, where English-speaking subjects of study in the rail transport sector can be taken. However, the strategic goal of the two Thai universities is to expand the domestic dual study course after successful startup to a triplicate study program together with the RWTH Aachen University.

For this purpose, between the KMUTNB, represented by the Dean of the TGGS, Prof. Nisai Fuengwarodsakul, a RWTH graduate, the Chulalongkorn University, represented by the Vice President Prof. Pomthong Malakul Na Ayudhaya and Prof. Haberstroh, who represents the Rector in the matter, and Prof. Schindler, as a representative of the rail vehicle technology industry, signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the IFS. Schindler, who has been traveling to Bangkok for consultations, lectures and workshops for a week for two years each, will intensify the discussions on his next trip.
