At the InnoTrans 2018, the IFS was represented at the joint stand of the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) in Hall 2.2, Booth 302. The International Trade Fair for Railway and Traffic Engineering took place from 18 to 21 September in Berlin.

With the IFS, the Institute of Transportation Science (VIA) and the Institute for Power Converter Technology and Electric Drives (ISEA) were present at the RWTH stand for the first time under the umbrella of the jointly founded Research Center Railways (RCR).

The location in hall 2.2 was conveniently located and many interested people visited the RWTH booth to find out about the institute's projects. Not only were numerous new contacts made, but many of the existing ones were revitalized and expanded. Numerous discussions about the research activities and work priorities were conducted with the international trade visitors.

A highlight certainly took place on September, 19, with the visit of the Bavarian Minister of State for Housing, Construction and Transport, Ilse Aigner, which was explained by the Professors Schindler and Nießen the current research projects.

The project ARS "Aachener Rail Shuttle", an autonomously moving rail vehicle, which represents an innovative, modular and flexible all-in-one solution for rail passenger and freight traffic in the area, attracted particular interest.
